    DAY 1/Tue: DEPART KUL

    • Borneo Pilgrims – Depart KKIA to KLIA and meet main group at Airlines check in counter.
    • KL Pilgrims - Assemble 3 hours before at Airlines check in counter.

     

    DAY 2/Wed: KUL - BOLOGNA - PISA (X/X/D)

    • Flight depart via Dubai
    • Arrive Bologna and after immigration and customs clearance proceed for city tour.
    • Visit Basilica di St Petronio - dedicated to the city's patron saint, is located in Piazza Maggiore and is the largest and most important church in Bologna. Its construction began in 1390 under the supervision of Antonio di Vincenzo.
    • Drive to Pisa.
    • Dinner, check in and overnight in Pisa.

     

    DAY 3/Thu: PISA - FLORENCE - ASSISI (B/X/D)

     

    • Breakfast in the hotel and check out.
    • Photo stop at: Leaning tower of Pisa, Square of Miracles, The Baptistery and The Duomo.
    • Tower of Pisa is more accurately referred to simply as the bell tower, or campanile. The Pisa tower is one of the four buildings that make up the cathedral complex in Pisa, Italy. Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most remarkable architectural structures from medieval Europe.
    • Piazza dei Miracoli Pisa (Square of Miracles) is one of the most famous places in all of Pisa. The name of this placed was given by Gabriele D’Annunzio, a famous Italian writer, who mentioned it in his novel. Located to the north of central Pisa, the place holds some of the main buildings which make Pisa such a great place for tourists.
    • The Baptistery in Pisa, devoted to St. John the Baptist, stands in front of the west facade of the Cathedral; it was begun in the middle of the 12th century as replacement of a previous Baptismal building, oldest and smaller, octagonal shape, which was North.
    • Own lunch.
    • Drive to Florence.
    • Mass.
    • Visit Duomo St Maria del Fiore.
    • Santa Maria del Fiore is one of the largest churches in the world. The plan consists of a triple-nave basilica with the presbytery area nested within, dominated by the large octagon of the immense dome, around which are three radial apses (or “tribunes”), each consisting of five chapels. The cathedral is 153 meters in length, 90 meters wide at the transept, and 90 meters high from floor to base of the lantern. The title “Santa Maria del Fiore” (Lady of the flower) alludes to the name of the city, "Florentia", or “city of flowers”, “destined to bloom”, and to its emblem, the Florentine lily.
    • Transfer to Assisi.
    • Dinner, check in & overnight in Assisi.

    DAY 4/Fri: ASSISI (B/X/D)

    • Breakfast in the hotel.
    • Visit Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi and Santa Chiara Church.
    • The Papal Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is the mother church of the Roman Catholic where Saint Francis was born and died. The basilica is one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
    • Santa Chiara Church is in the rione Pigna, formerly the Campus Martius area of Rome dedicated to Saint Clare of Assisi. It is located at the corner of via Santa Chiara and via di Torre Argentina (where this street becomes via della Rotonda). It is about a block south of the Pantheon, at the piazza Santa Chiara.
    • Own lunch
    • Visit St Mary of Angels.
    • The Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels houses the tiny chapel (the Portiuncula – literally means the tiny portion) that Saint Francis built in response to Our Lady’s request to “help rebuild my church”. The chapel is where he lived and began his Franciscan Order. The Basilica is built over this chapel.
    • Dinner & overnight in Assisi.

     

    DAY 5/Sat: ASSISI - LORETO - LANCIANO - SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO (B/X/D)

     

    • Breakfast in the hotel and check out.
    • Transfer to Loreto.
    • Visit Holy House of Loreto.
    • The Basilica della Santa Casa or Basilica of the Holy House is a shrine of Marian pilgrimage in Loreto, Italy. The basilica is known for enshrining the house in which the Blessed Virgin Mary is believed to have lived. Pious devotees believe that the same house was flown over by Angelic beings from Jerusalem to Tersatto then to Recanati before arriving at the current site
    • Own lunch.
    • Proceed to Lanciano (Chieti)
    • Visit the Eucharistic Miracle.
    • Eucharistic Miracles, the one at Lanciano, a small town in Italy, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, is undoubtedly the one that is best known. This Miracle took place at the beginning of the 7th Century.
    • Continue drive to San Giovanni Rotondo.
    • Check in, dinner & overnight stay in San Giovanni.

    DAY 6/Sun: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO (B/X/D)

    • Breakfast in the hotel.
    • Visit the Shrine of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, southern Italy, is the second-most visited Catholic shrine in the world. It centers on the tomb of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, a Capuchin friar, priest and mystic known for his devotion to God, care for the sick, and supernatural gifts. He died in 1968 and was declared a saint in 2002. We tour the sanctuary, see the old church and the crucifix from which he received the stigmata in 1918. You will see the confessional where Padre Poi spent innumerable hours with a multitude of pilgrims, directing them on their journey toward God.

    • Visit Monte Sant’ Angelo
    • Monte Sant’ Angelo or The Sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel (Santuario di San Michele Arcangelo) is a sacred cave and popular Catholic shrine near San Giovanni Rotundo. Here the Archangel Michael is said to have appeared in 490, 492 and 1656 and consecrated the shrine himself.
    • Dinner & overnight in San Giovanni.

     

    DAY 7/Mon: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - MANOPPELLO - ROME (B/X/D)

    • Breakfast in the hotel and check out.
    • Drive to Manopello.
    • Proceed to visit Basilica del Volto Santo – Face of Jesus.
    • At the Shrine of the Holy Face in Manoppello, Italy, visitors see a transparent cloth encased between two glass panes within an ornate silver frame above the sanctuary’s altar. Once light is shone on the cloth of byssus fibre, the image of a bearded man, eyes open and mouth seemingly taking a breath is revealed.
    • Own lunch
    • Transfer to Rome.
    • Visit St Paul’s Basilica Outside the Wall. Walk through Holy Door (1st Door)
    • St Paul’s Basilica Outside the Wall, known of its location outside the old city walls of Rome, is one of the great churches and became beloved and popular pilgrimage destination. Aside from its antiquity, it is home to the grave of St. Paul. It is one of the seven ancient pilgrimage churches of Rome. The Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Wall is part of the Vatican City UNESCO World Heritage Site Visit Chiesa Al Martirio di S. Paolo. Chiesa Al Martirio di S. Paolo - the Church of Saint Paul at the Three Fountains (Chiesa del martirio di San Paolo alle Tre Fontane), is the site of the martyrdom of Saint Paul. Tradition tells us that, because he was a Roman citizen, he was beheaded. The story was passed down that his head bounced three times on the ground, and at each spot a spring appeared.

    DAY 8/Tue: ROME (B/L/D)

    • Breakfast at hotel.
    • Visit St Peter Basilica (2nd Door)
    • St Peter’s Basilica – is a major basilica in Vatican City. St. Peter's was until recently the largest church ever built and it remains one of the holiest sites in Christendom. It stands on the traditional site where Peter (considered the first pope) was crucified and buried. St. Peter's tomb is under the main altar and many other popes are buried in the basilica as well.
    • Lunch at local restaurant.
    • Visit to St. John Lateran Church. (3rd Door)
    • Basilica of Saint John Lateran was built under pope Melchiade (311-314), it’s the most ancient church in the world. Since the pope is also the bishop of Rome, Saint John in Lateran – being seat of the bishop’s residence – is also Rome’s Cathedral.
    • Visit Scala Santa, Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme.
    • Scala Santa – The Holy Stairs, a chapel built around the great relic of the steps to Pontius Pilate's palace that Jesus once climbed to meet his fate. This "Holy Staircase" consists of 28 steps of Tyrian marble that legend holds were the actual staircase of Pilate's house, which Jesus descended after being condemned. Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme – one of the seven pilgrimage Churches in the Eternal City. It is known visit for its extraordinary collection of relics from the Holyland. Its full-sized replica of the Shroud of Turin, the shrine of a young girl who is being considered for sainthood, and its connections with Constantine and St. Helen.
    • Dinner & overnight in Rome.

    DAY 9/Wed: ROME (B/L/D)

    • Breakfast at the hotel.
    • Proceed for Papal Audience - giving pilgrims and visitors the chance to "see the Pope" and receive the Papal Blessing or Apostolic Blessing from the successor of The Apostle Peter during their visit. **Papal audience is subject to Pope Francis’s schedule and availability**
    • After lunch, visit Trevi Foutain.
    • Visit St Mary Majors Basilica (4th Door) – The Basilica of St. Mary Major is also known in Italian as the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore. It is the largest Roman Catholic Marian Church in Rome. Basilica of St. Mary Major gave justice to its name because of its grandeur, not only in size but also regarding its art and architecture. Visit - St Alphonsus de Liquori Church.
    • Dinner and overnight in Rome.

    DAY 10/Thu: ROME (B/X/X)

    • Breakfast at hotel and check out.
    • Transfer to airport for flight back to Kuala Lumpur.

    DAY 11/Fri: KUALA LUMPUR

    • Arrive Kuala Lumpur with fond memory of Italy Pilgrimage.
    • *For Borneo Pilgrims, connecting flight back in the evening.
